^Designerd
T he most recent of my past sites has to be my favorite. It was ment to be a place holder as I built something much larger. In the End it ended up being a promotional teaser and still managed to get “DOPE” recognition!! I was really excited about that…
You can navigate between the three sections, Contact, About and KS History, on the right when you enter the site. Unfortunately the History section images and the Contact form will not work. I wanted to save space for new content as I build out more of my new blog.

^My Playground
T his site I tried to create entirely with Actionscript. Well we really can call it a Flex application and it had started out and as a, fun, learning experience but then it ended up being extremely code intensive and cumbersome. Just about every asset in this version had been created with Spark Skins except for my personal logo and the menu icons. Creating those skins with animations would have just taken way too long and or not really been worth the effort.
I had a lot of fun with the Flickr integration. It turned out to be a little bit of work but I feel that added a great backdrop to the presentation of the application. Photography has always been a second love to web design / programming and I wanted to capitalize on that. You can see that you will also be able to view the meta-data of each photo when you mouse over images in the top right of the site.

^My Habitat
T his version of KellenStyer was named Habitat to play off an industry joke. Designers never seem to have a finished website or their site will constantly be under construction. I have to admit that I fall into that category. So the plan was to build a web application that would allow me to use the same content with different site skins. That concept would allow me to develop content along with different design ideas. But through the process of building this app, I learned a lot and started a new concept leaving this one as a prototype.
The preloader was a lot of fun to build for this one. Building the animations with some of the new Flash 3D functionality was a little bit of a challenge. A lot of base Flex classes were not loaded and available. Well, with a little bit of research, hacking, I was able to access everything I needed. Ergo… something fun to watch while my website loaded.

^Discovering the Flickr API
H here is where I began to take programming to a whole new level. I discovered APIs. Naturally, due to my love for photography, I started with the Flickr API and started building my first Flickr enabled web site.
There isn’t that much more to this version. The top menu works but I never got far enough into building the section view structure.

^A Pixelranger Two – short lived
P ixelranger version two was very short lived. I ended up only finishing an initial design for the splash screen. No development stage or prototypes, just a nice looking logo on a funky looking background.
